5 research sites for the final project

January 24, 2008

the final project that i chose is a wedding photographer’s personal site.

i got all the photographers from this site www.popphoto.com it is a list of the webs top 10 wedding photographers chosen by someone.

Denis Reggie the things i like about this site is its classic look, its all centered around the photos. i would like to use some of the of the navigational structure from this site, its very clean and easy for the user to understand. i would say the navigation is the highpoint of the site.

Jeff Ascough what i like about this site is its professional look. what i would probably use in my site is something like what he uses for his color schemes, which is also the highlight of his site.

Joe Buissin what i like about this site is that this guy has it going on showing his other works along with the wedding photos he has. what i would implement in this site is the portfolio part of this site.

Bambi Cantrell not really feeling this site. i guess the only thing i could implement is the contact page. she takes good pictures that’s all that redeems her.

Alisha and Brook Todd very clean site i must say. i like the inquiries page the best. also the navigation is pretty good too.

Bowman’s article A Design Process Revealed illustrates the design process in which one must go through to achieve a well planned layout for any design.  Designers do not suddenly develop spectacular websites; it takes planning and careful considering about basic design principles, such as contrast, eye flow, color, and imagery.
One must first understand what the problem is then research other websites and competitive sites to gain ideas about the problem.  This is done so to overcome the weaknesses and to try to better the strengths of what others have done.  Then the designer must make several rough sketches called thumbnails to get an idea what the site will look like.  After that, the designer must make careful thought as the typeface and images that will be used in the design to effectively tie the design together so that it will not confuse the user about the site.  Finally, the designer will start making the site and strengthen the design using Cascading Style Sheets to make an effective layout.
In short good design does not happen overnight it takes time and consideration on the part of the designer to come up with the best answer to the design problem.
